Osgood Brewing has now been open for one month. Like any successful business they have taken that month to learn and grow. For Osgood one of the areas of concern was the carbonation level in their beer. If you were there opening night or in the days to follow, you may have thought the beer to lack in carbonation. If so, you were correct. Luckily, Osgood was able to pinpoint the cause. An outside company had installed the CO2 and nitrogen mix backwards. Instead of a 75% and 25% mix respectively, it was the opposite. Basically, all the beer was on nitro (which is good in some cases, but not all). The company corrected the problem and all is good now.

Ron, Osgood’s owner asked me to stop back in on Monday and sample their six beers now that the issue was fixed and review the beers again.  Naturally, I obliged. In my personal opinion, all the beer is better. The appropriate level of carbonation definitely had a positive impact on the flavors of the beer. Each one had a little more aroma, body, bigger flavor profile and nicer feel. Having read many people’s comments regarding the carbonation of Osgood Brewing’s beer, I highly recommend stopping back out and taste for yourself the difference.

Other adjustments to this brewery: noise level.  Sound dampeners have been installed so when it’s busy, the sound is absorbed instead of traveling all over the bar and in our ears. What an awesome difference they make!

As for the future…more beer! In chatting with Ron about what was coming up in Osgood, he shared they’re going to be producing some seasonal beers, variations of stouts and IPAs and when enough time has passed, we’ll start to see some barrel aged beer show up on the tap menu. There is so much to look forward to, so be sure to follow them on Facebook. They are constantly posting information about great food specials and other misc information.

Cheers!
